Early in my graduate training my advisor asked me what kinds of conversations I wanted to join. Framing academic work as “conversations” that you could drop into, lurk and eavesdrop, learn, contribute, and catalyze, became a grounding concept for me. Conversations are generative for me because work happens through idea exchange. I love the connections that come from conversation, dialogue, and exchange, especially those that come from different sectors or disciplines that unlock or inspire advances in others. Bridging and linking conversations is what I do, whether in teaching, on twitter, or in think tank settings.
I built this website to express other dimensions of my work and journey. For the more usual academic experience and credentials, my CV can be found here:

Origin Stories
I am from
hot pine
verdant cabin
salt water
I am from
Daddy Bert
and steak sizzle
two fingers of scotch
and slices of cheese
I am from
endless exploration
in all the wild spaces
that were ours and ours alone
I am from
our fort
carefully and lovingly built
again and again
I am from showing up
Yes, “this’ll do.”
